Commander Seth Powell, USN

Executive Officer

CDR Powell is from Muncie, Indiana and is a 2005 graduate of the Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History and was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy.

At sea, his assignments include Main Propulsion Division Officer, Auxiliaries Officer, and Training Officer aboard USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) and Chief Engineer aboard both USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) and USS PRINCETON (CG 59). For his most recent sea assignment he served as the Damage Control Assistant aboard USS TRIPOLI (LHA 7).

Ashore, he served on the staff for Commander Naval Forces Europe, Commander Naval Forces Africa, Commander Sixth Fleet as a multi-national exercise planner; as the Warfare Tactics Instructor Program Manager at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center; and as a Theater Navigation Warfare Coordination Cell lead and J33 Current Operations Branch Chief at the Joint Navigation Warfare Center. He also had the privilege to serve as the Commanding Officer of Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest prior to arriving as the Executive Officer and Associate Professor of Naval Science here at University of New Mexico.

His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (5), and various unit and service awards.
